Colour constantly captures my attention and fires my imagination. It’s the aspect of my work that truly drives me – I’m always seeking new ways to use colour to bring my subjects to life.

Traveling throughout Australia has added another dimension to my work. Having lived in over 30 different locations in Australia alone, I’ve been lucky to experience many vivid and varied landscapes; from our turquoise oceans, to the dusty red earth of the outback. I’ve seen the stunning sunsets over Mindil Beach in the NT, and ancient rainforests dripping in every shade of green. And so much in between.

All of my travels inspire my work. I strive to make compelling connections between people and nature through vibrant use of colour, with birds a favourite subject matter, as you’ll see!

I predominantly work in Acrylics, Watercolours, Ink and Oil paints. I’m ever grateful to those artists who have taught me along the way, including my beautiful Grandmother who was also a self taught creative.

Teaching has added another level of joy to my work as I’m able to share all that excites me about creating with my students. I’ve been lucky to teach both children and adults and thoroughly enjoy empowering others to express themselves through art.

  1. Good morning Rebecca,
I just finished watching you on Put Some Colour in Your Life. I really like your style. Acrylic is one of my favourite mediums after colour pencil and graphite. I am still learning with the acrylic and find it very forgiving.
Thank you for sharing your wonderful work.

    1. Hi Dale,
Thank you so much for your lovely feedback. Acrylic really is a wonderful medium. It’s versatility makes it a lot of fun to experiment with – I’ve been enjoying using it almost like a watercolour medium lately and that’s great too.
Best wishes on your continued art journey,
      Rebecca

  2. I am in love with your art! Painting nature is my very favorite thing to paint and I, too, love birds and especially frogs! Saw you on Color In Your Life……

    1. Hi Paula! Thank you so much for stopping by. It’s lovely that we share the same interests with our artwork. I hope you enjoyed my episode of Colour in Your Life – it was a great experience though I was extremely nervous on filming day! Wishing you lots of happy painting time. Regards Rebecca

  3. Dear Rebecca,

I’ve just opened my glorious ‘Aussie Bush in the Mist’… SO magical; utterly perfect! Thank you very, very much (and for the lovely postcard included too).

As soon as I saw ‘ABITM’ pop up on a Blue Thumb ad, I knew I had to have it. I had just got back from an amazing trip to Japan, and was struck by it immediately.

    Thank you again!

    Warm wishes,

    Edwina

It’s so special to know that you felt that connection to this piece after your trip to Japan. It sounds like it was an experience that you’ll treasure. Thank you so much for getting in touch. It means a great deal to me.

      Warmest Regards,

      Rebecca 🙂
